Integrating Faces and Fingerprints for Personal Identiication
نویسنده
چکیده
An automatic personal identiication system based solely on ngerprints or faces is often not able to meet the system performance requirements. Face recognition is fast but not reliable while ngerprint veriication is reliable but ineecient in database retrieval. We have developed a prototype biometric system which integrates faces and ngerprints. The system overcomes the limitations of face recognition systems as well as ngerprint veriication systems. The integrated prototype system operates in the identiication mode with an admissible response time. The identity established by the system is more reliable than the identity established by a face recognition system. In addition, the proposed decision fusion schema enables performance improvement by integrating multiple cues with diierent conndence measures. Experimental results demonstrate that our system performs very well. It meets the response time as well as the accuracy requirements.

F2ID: a personal identification system using faces and fingerprints
A \real-time" automatic personal identiication system should meet the connicting dual requirements of accuracy and response time. In addition, it also should be user-friendly. We introduce a \medium-size" \real-time" automatic personal identiication system, F2ID, which integrates faces and ngerprints to make a personal identiication. F2ID overcomes some of the limitations of face recognition sy...

متن کاملGenerating One Biometric Feature from Another: Faces from Fingerprints
This study presents a new approach based on artificial neural networks for generating one biometric feature (faces) from another (only fingerprints). An automatic and intelligent system was designed and developed to analyze the relationships among fingerprints and faces and also to model and to improve the existence of the relationships. The new proposed system is the first study that generates...
متن کاملExpertise with unfamiliar objects is flexible to changes in task but not changes in class
Perceptual expertise is notoriously specific and bound by familiarity; generalizing to novel or unfamiliar images, objects, identities, and categories often comes at some cost to performance. In forensic and security settings, however, examiners are faced with the task of discriminating unfamiliar images of unfamiliar objects within their general domain of expertise (e.g., fingerprints, faces, ...
